Randy A. Johnson

Iowa Church of the Brethren minister and foster parent convicted for abusing a child

In 2018, Randy Johnson (b. 1964) pleaded guilty (Alford plea) to one count of indecent exposure and one count of child endangerment causing bodily injury. Johnson had allegedly sexually abused a minor girl multiple times over a year and a half beginning in 2013. Johnson had been pastor of the Dallas Center Church of the Brethren, part of the Northern Plains District of the Church of the Brethren.

Prosecutors initially filed five felony and eight misdemeanor charges against Johnson for sexual abuse, assault, indecent contact, indecent exposure and child endangerment. After signing a plea deal, Johnson was sentenced to three years of probation on the charge of child endangerment and two years of probation for indecent exposure, to be served concurrently, and he was also required to register as a sex offender.
