Marvin M. Freed

Pennsylvania Mennonite minister convicted for sexual harassment

In 2018, Marvin Freed (b. 1934) sexually harassed a female pedestrian in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Marvin was a long-time pastor at Valley Mennonite Church in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania, a congregation affiliated with the Keystone Mennonite Fellowship.

According to police and court documents, the 83-year-old Freed pulled his car over beside the female, who was walking alone in broad daylight, and “asked her [to get] in his car and told her he would show her a good time.” The incident ended when the victim began recording it on her cellphone. “As soon as she told the male he was being recorded he drove off quickly.”

An arrest warrant was issued the day of the incident and when Freed turned himself into Clinton County (Pennsylvania) Police, they charged him with misdemeanor lewd or threatening harassment and released him on bail.

A few months later, Freed signed a plea deal and was sentenced to one year of probation.
